The Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture are operational from 8.00am to 3.00 pm, from Monday to Friday. The Academic calendar is divided into two semesters, two mid-semester breaks of one week in each semester. Learners also attend weekend duties and work attachment in the Agricultural or Ornamental Horticulture sector or related industry.
The Institute offers two full time advanced certificate programmes of two years duration in General Agriculture and Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping and at certificate level of 18 months duration using the apprenticeship mode of training.
The first year of the Advanced in General Agriculture training programme is made up of 20 compulsory units and 5 core Units which are spread out over the two years. The second year is made up of 10 compulsory units and 5 Co-units. Learners can also opt for an Optional unit of their choice that the institute offers.
The first year of the advanced certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping programme is made up of 10 compulsory Units, 6 Core units.
Learners following the full-time Advanced Certificate
programmes have to attend scheduled weekend duties at the Institute farm and work attachment during the semester break as part of their practical training.
